Thanks for dropping by, Justin! I never cease to be amazed by how many folks love Li Ching. I think she's pretty fabulous too. I haven't seen King Eagle yet. I'll have to check it out. My favorite wuxia film of hers is Vengeance of a Snowgirl.

BTW, I recently came across some pictures of Li Ching from the 70s. I should post them, considering how comments I get about her.

Yeah, I'm with you, GoldenPigsy. I think Pearl has been unfairly knocked for her later style of fantastic wirework. It's evident now that it was a creative choice and not a cover-up for lack of martial skills. Plus, it bears reminding that wirework is not just being swung around on a rope. It actually requires a lot of physical skill.

Anyway, glad to make this article available. I've got a couple more I'll be posting in the next few weeks.

It's interesting to find out that Pearl had both martial arts and Peking Opera training. I always thought she looked rather athletic in the her less fantastical action roles -- at least more so than, say, Elsa Yeung.

Aaaaaah, sacrilege! The thing with Brigitte for me has always been her range... Yes, some of her personae are somewhat vanilla but Asia the Invincible? In both SWORDSMAN II and THE EAST IS RED? The Bride with White Hair??? Even, yes, The Woman in Black (where vanilla transforms by the end of the movie into angry, vengeful red?!)

Fan Ni and Lin Chen Qi were two new aspiring stars recruited by Shaw Brothers from Taiwan. Both of them were not famous at that time. However, it was one of the strategy of Shaw Brothers to promote their own stars. I clearly remember that both of them were sent to Singapore and Malaysia to do some kind of promotion at that time.
