This one goes out to whomever has made "pat ting hung" the number one keyword source of traffic to this blog. Every time I see those three words show up in my Google Analytics report, I feel a twinge of guilt for featuring so little of Pat Ting Hung. It's nothing personal against Pat, it's just that for some reason she never grabbed my attention in the way, for example, that Fanny Fan did. (Go ahead... call me shallow!)
Anyway, please accept this lovely picture of Pat from Southern Screen No. 6 (May, 1958) as a small first step toward rectifying her absence here at Soft Film.

hi duriandave!
first of all - i LOVE your blog! thank you so much for blogging about famous chinese actresses of the bygone era! truly a fantastic read and all in one place too. you've become quite the authority on the subject :)
when i lived in new york years ago, i went to watch the anna may wong retrospective at the museum of moving images and became utterly fascinated. i even bought her biography, anna may wong: from laundryman's daughter to hollywood legend. she among others certainly paved the way for asian actors in the western world.
secondly, of course i don't mind you dropping by and saying hello. thanks for your comment too.
yes, there's definitely something about those over the top female characters that will always keep us coming back for more.
Thanks for dropping by, Ms. Lightning! Glad you like my blog. :)
Anna May Wong is definitely the bee's knees! I love that biography you mentioned. Seriously, I've read it three times. Anna May led such an interesting life... a true pioneer!
Pat Ting was also a notable Hair Do Queen in the early 60s, she was sort of pre-Lily Ho.Lily's hair was big and "gigantic", Pat's was more elegant, not really that big, but always eleglant.
I have noticed that about Pat. Here is my favorite of Ting Hung's big hair dos. Elegant, just like you said. :)
Thanks for sharing the photo....love it.In fact, in her role as Mimi Lulu in Wong Kar Wai's "The days of Being Wild", while portraying the dancehall girl scenes, Karina Lau has spotted a hairstyle that was similar to Pat Ting's photo in Southern Screen edits......tips for all: the hairstyle was the one that has a "S" shape fringe and piled up bun.
